I look forward to sharing communion with you this Sunday at 8, 930 and 11am. My sermon is still a work in progress so I don't want to say what it will be about - because it might change on Saturday night :(
Our scriptures for this Sunday are:
The reading from John's gospel tells how Jesus appears to his disciples and prepares fish on the coals for them - and feeds them with bread and fish. This moment reminds me of the time when the angel fed Elijah:
Joy Clarkson writes on Twitter:
- This is your gentle reminder that one time in the Bible Elijah was like "God, I'm so mad! I want to die!" so God said "Here's some food. why don't you have a nap?" So Elijah slept, ate, & decided things weren't so bad. Never underestimate the spiritual power of a nap & a snack.
As Jesus prepares fish and bread for his disciples we remember how he fed 5,000 how Jesus makes sure that in the Kingdom of God there is enough for everybody.
As we share communion - there will be enough for everybody.
On Saturday morning, 4 May, from 1030am we will celebrate the life of Margaret Sinden a long time member of Table View Methodist. Here is the invitation from her family:
