Pastoral Note 10 June 2015

Hi Table View Methodist Family,   Last Thursday when I arrived at church I was greeted by a beautiful rainbow arching over our building:   Its quite easy to think that it was just over our  building because of where I was standing; but I know it stretched over the whole neighbourhood. A reminder of hope - of God's optimistic belief in humanity. A reminder never to give up.  I look forward to reflecting on 1 Samuel 15:34-16:13 and Psalm 20; 2 Corinthians 5:6-17 and Mark 4:26-34 this Sunday.  Psalm 20 is a Psalm of blessing to be prayed over a King at his anointing:    "The LORD answer you in the day of trouble!" and verse 7 "Some take pride in chariots, and some in horses, but our pride is in the name of the LORD our God."   Coming to church on a Sunday ; taking a Sabbath day of rest, is a way of saying to yourself, to your body - and to God: "I trust in God more than all the other things of this world."  May you be blessed by
