Easter, Good Friday and Holy Week

Hi Table View Methodist Family,
We have been reflecting on John's gospel - chapters 14-16 at our Holy Week Services.  Jesus tells his disciples:

"If you love me, you will keep my commandments.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever." - John 14:15-16

The commandment that Jesus has just given to his disciples is the commandment to "Love one another as I have loved you."  Loving Jesus is not that difficult.  Loving 'one another' is more difficult.  To help us - Jesus sends the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit also leads us into truth.  This truth is the truth that God loves us and has adopted us as his children.  It is the truth that our sins can be forgiven - God's love for us revealed on the cross is truthJesus reminds his disciples: "You did not choose me, I chose you."  He reminds us that he does not 'give as the world gives' - the world gives conditionally - expecting something in return.  God, in Jesus, gives unconditionally.
As you journey through Good Friday to Easter Sunday I want you to know that you are loved by God.  And that God has chosen you to be his witnesses.  To share that love and forgiveness with others.
Our Tenebrae service takes place at 7pm on Thursday night.
On Good Friday there is an hour long service at 8am.
And a two hour service from 930am-1130am where we will reflect on the seven words spoken by Jesus on the cross.
On Easter Sunday we will celebrate the resurrection with communion at 8, 930 and 11am.
