Pastoral Note - 2018-01-05

Hi Table View Methodist Family,

This Sunday we celebrate communion at 8, 930 and 11am as we get back into the swing of things in 2018!

Our scriptures this Sunday celebrate Jesus' baptism by John in the Jordan; Why was Jesus baptized?  And what does it mean to be 'baptized in the Holy Spirit'?  Are questions that are raised by the readings set for this Sunday:
  • Genesis 1:1-5  •
  • Psalm 29  •
  • Acts 19:1-7  •
  • Mark 1:4-11 (
  • Click here to read them online).

You will also get a chance to meet our new part time youth pastor, Mr Isaac Rubaya:

Isaac is a part time assistant teacher at Tafelberg Primary School, he is also passionate about mission ministries including sports and education development in Dunoon and Joe Slovo; he is a local preacher in our circuit and studying towards a Bachelor of Education degree through Unisa.

Please support him with your prayers as he makes the transition to Table View Methodist Church.

From the list above you will understand why Isaac is our part time youth pastor (and missionary) - he is a busy guy; but we believe his ministries will complement our mission at TVMC.

As we welcome Isaac we need to acknowledge that his ministry will be very different to Iain's - please encourage him and his son Loyiso as they find their feet at TVMC.  Also keep Iain and Kirstin in your prayers as they make the trip up to Pietermaritzburg this weekend and Iain begins his journey to ordained ministry.

To help Isaac with email / studies / youth work preparation and ministry while he is on the go we would like to get him a tablet and keyboard; this will cost about R4,000.  I know what January is like:

But maybe you got an upgrade?

Or if we could each make a small contribution marked 'Tablet for Isaac' I'm sure we can get him up and running pretty quickly.
We would obviously want to get him something of good quality that can handle emails, documents, presentations etc. and also help him as his commitments keep him very mobile - if you're clever at tablets please mail me your suggestions (I use an Apple iPad and don't know much about Samsungs and Lenovos etc...).

    God bless,
And I look forward to another exciting year of ministry at the Table View Methodist Society.
